"Afterlife"
Story: I‘ve reworked this piece with about 7 or 8 layers of paint over the course of 4 months. Often times I work on multiple pieces at the same time and whenever I’m done with a painting, I often have leftover paint that ends up drying up and being unused. I kept being sad about it since the colors I mixed made some fun and unexpected combinations. I decided I’d give my paint palette a second life by using the leftover paint and adding it to this particular canvas.
It started out while I was working on a large Big Sur inspired painting in November and there was a section of that piece that I loved so it sort of spawned from that idea.
The title comes from the paints having another chance at life on a canvas. They may have missed their opportunity the first time around but this canvas became their new home.
